Foreign direct investments in economy of Republic of Moldova and perspectives for their grow in the framework of neighboring with EU
Similar to other countries in the region, at the beginning of the 90s, Republic of Moldova had to face new economic conditions. One of the distinctive features of the SouthEastern Europe and CIS countries was the start of their transition without any foreign investment, hoping on existent resources for financing the economy. After 15 years of transition, the development level of these countries is very different.

While the external environment is improving, the domestic political cycle is complicating economic decision making. The authorities remain committed to the PRGFsupported program, particularly in light of December’s CG meeting. However, recent local government elections (where the ruling Communist Party did poorly) and arliamentary elections in early 2009 have begun to distract policymakers.

Policy Brief: Trends in 2007
The “liberalisation” initiatives launched recently by the topleadership of the country (i.e. capital amnisty, fiscal amnesty and zerorate for income tax of the legal persons) found the Moldovan society largely unprepared. The explanation which is provided by the national authorities to justify the reason for initiating a set of such radical proposals is quite vague yet and suggests an unfortunate lack of clarity on the expected impact as well as collateral effects which may follow the initiatives.

Draft Report on Fiscal Decentralisation in South-East Europe
